I am an advocate for good-gun legislation, educating the public, especially our youth, to the impact that gun violence has on a community, peer support, suggesting that gun violence should be taught in schools as a public health and public safety issue in that all of these issues will reduce, if not eradicate gun violence among our youth that is destroying our future in record and epidemic proportions. We must continue to INCREASE THE PEACE, FUTURES NOT FUNERALS, EACH ONE, REACH ONE TEACH ONE! GOD BLESS YOUR MINISTRIES!

From the beginning: Saint Anselm, Betsy Ross, Edgar Allen Poe, Wendell Smith, George Henry Corliss High School, Eastern Illinois University(BA Degree), Columbia College (Chicago), Lewis University ( working towards a masters in criminal social justice).

The last 18 years: Chicago Police Department [numerous awards, complimentary letters for exemplary service in law enforcement in the area of dealing with primarily gangs, guns, drugs and violence].

Personal Statement

Since the horrific, violent and highly publicized shooting death of my 16-year-old son, Blair DeLane Holt, on May 10, 2007 while traveling on a public bus after school on his way to work at his grandparents store, I and Blair's mom, Annette, captain with the Chicago Fire Deaprtment, have become advocates for policy advocacy for good-gun legislation, safety in the communities, peer support and changing the mindset of how our youth can achieve a "non-violent approach to conflict resolution." We know that the ultimate hope to stop the violence among our youth can only be achieved with the power of GOD. This is our faith, our hope, our dream, our prayer. Let's make Dr. Martin Luther King's dream a reality in this day.
