Illinois Manager, Corporate Citizenship, IBM Corporation Robert Reid received his B.S.F.S. degree in Diplomacy/International Relations from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. In 1996, Robert co-founded SUNRISE Virtual Reality, an entrepreneurial software firm that developed the world’s first software, labs, and instructional design for 3D and immersive virtual reality technologies. In this capacity he oversaw the development of virtual reality-based education programs, and managed strategic planning for real-time, multi-student online virtual learning environments. In 2004, Robert joined Learning Point Associates as Senior Program Associate. His responsibilities included serving as Project Manager for the U.S. Virgin Islands Comprehensive Educational Improvement Initiative, the country’s broadest and most successful continuous improvement education effort, and the Chicago Public Schools-based improvement model Supporting Schools in Need of Improvement. Robert also served as Project Manager for Online Activities, coordinating the rollout of a new generation of professional development designed to increase the quality of online learning. Robert serves on the advisory boards of Operation Safe Child, a Chicago non-profit dedicated to children's safety, and the Women’s Global Education Project, a non-governmental organization fostering educational opportunity for African girls. In 2003, he was honored by Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry as an “African-American Pioneer in High Technology.”
