I encourage you to visit http://tutormentor.blogspot.com and the Program Locator at http://www.tutormentorconnection.org to view new maps of Chicago that we've been adding to the site since late June 2008.
These show where volunteer-based tutor/mentor programs are needed, based on high poverty, poorly performing schools, or youth violence. They also show the distribution of programs listed in the Tutor/Mentor database, as well as colleges, universities and faith groups who could be reaching out to support the growth of programs in different zip codes.
If you operate a tutor/mentor program I encourage you to visit the Program Locator to make sure the contact information and description on your program is accurate. If you are not listed, you can register and list your program. You can also add your web site if you have one.
This service is intended to help every tutor/mentor program in the region get the resources to constantly improve the way they connect youth with volunteers and learning experiences.
