Why you can't get a haircut over the internet.

Books, shoes, computers, and blenders.

You’re probably pretty good at finding dirt cheap products on the internet, right?

What about oil changes, dry cleaning, yoga class, and tomorrow’s lunch?

The internet doesn’t mean much to you when it comes to shopping locally. You can’t really use the internet to find where today’s cheapest gallon of milk is, can you?

Imagine if you could find every lamp on sale in Chicago as easily as you can find the “mail order” ones online?

Imagine if out of the twelve hair salons in your neighborhood, one of them was having a really slow day. Imagine if by lunch time the manager of that salon could let the neighborhood know that they were giving away a free massage to anyone who comes in today for a haircut.

SaveChicago.org secret no. 2: Create an online marketplace where a “critical mass” of local consumers shop at a “critical mass” of local businesses, and you, the local shopper, will save a fortune.

You’ll have access to a complete, up-to-the-minute "on sale" LOCAL inventory of goods and services in your neighborhood, and the entire city.

Local businesses can compete with sites like Amazon.com when it comes to dirt cheap deals. They just don’t have any way of letting you know when they have something that’s 60% off. Until now.

So how’s that sustainable, you ask?

1. You shop locally instead of through the mail because it’s cheaper to buy it here.
2. Local businesses pay money to post these deals on SaveChicago.org and local non-profit organizations share in that revenue.
