On May 10, 2007, 16 year old BLAIR HOLT, lost his life due to a senseless act of gun violence, while traveling from school on a public bus. Four other students were violently shot and injured during the same horrific incident. All were the unintended targets of another youth’s violent approach to, rather than, communicating verbal mediation towards conflict resolution.

We, the undersigned, urge you to take a conscientious approach to helping to reduce senseless acts of gun violence in our communities, particularly the gun violence that continues to claim our future, hopes, dreams, treasures and precious jewels, which are our children. In 2006, 2,820 children and young people under the age of 17 were victims of gun violence; 25 children and young people under 17 were killed by gunfire.

In order to protect our most vulnerable segment of the human race, we urge you to actively support “common-sense” gun legislation and do hereby petition the elected U. S. Representatives and Senators of the Congress of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA to support Congressman BOBBY L. RUSH’S (1st Dist.-IL) “BLAIR’S BILL” titled, HOUSE
BILL HR2666 /“BLAIR HOLT’S FIREARM LICENSING and RECORD OF SALE ACT OF 2007.” One purpose of the act is “to protect the public against the unreasonable risk of injury and death associated with the unrecorded sale or transfer of qualifying firearms to criminals and youth.” PLEASE SUPPORT “BLAIR’S BILL.” THANK YOU.

I am saddened and outraged at the availability of guns in our country and mourn the loss of so many of our children and adults that have been
killed by senseless acts of violence committed with guns. There has to be a way that concerned citizens can stop this insanity - we are living in a society that is out of our control.

I lost my son to a senseless, coldhearted act of gun violence on April 18, 2008.  He was a wonderful son, brother, loving husband and father. .. Now, we are devastated and left to cherish only the memories of our loved one.  WE NEED HOUSE BILL HR2666 PASSED!!
